One of the choices women have during pregnancy is how they will deliver. What I’m trying to say when I said how they deliver is where do they want to give birth-in the hospital or at their homes. Most women think that homebirth is not a safe method to give birth that is why they do not realize that they have a choice on how to deliver their babies.But there are of course critics who are wary of this method.But by researching they can learn that this method is safe, if not, as safe as a hospital delivery.

There are definitely critics who do not believe in the safety of a homebirth.  From my observations from my practice as a midwife in San Diego I have found it to be absolutely safe. From the 300 homebirths I have assisted in the dangers are just the same as if you were to deliver in a hospital.Having a baby in the hospital or at home doesn’t make any difference in minimizing those risks.On the ohter hand, the risks also would not increase because of this.

So what would be the possible risks that can happen?  Well for one people worry if some complications occur.They presume that the people who administer homebirths are not nurses and they are not medically inclined.  Well as a midwives San Diego we do know medical procedures.  We carry the necessary medical equipment for all the common complications.  Naturally any serious complications would have to be addressed by a doctor.But that is still similar to what happens in a hospital. 

Women who have low risk pregnancies are the only women recommended for homebirths.  If a woman is found to have possible complications any good midwife would not encourage this method.  This is standard procedure for all licensed midwife in San Diego.This is standard procedure because they are limited in the medical procedures that they can do.  That is why they do make sure any high risk pregnancies are delivered in a hospital.

For those who do not like this method it will be very hard to convince them to do so.  But for those women who see this as an alternative they should understand it is safe.
