Usually, I and my sons create a few blueprints each year in order to grab a leprechaun and acquire his pot of gold. This has been a custom for us and we usually execute this activity in February and after Valentine’s Day. This year, my 3-year old son planned to grab the leprechaun by being dressed in a leprechaun costume. This way, he can trick the leprechaun and with luck, the pot of gold can be achieved.

In Pursuit Of A Leprechaun’s Gold

Every year, my kids are really helpful in planning on how to have the trap do the trick. They change their traps and wishing that this year is going to be a triumphant one. They make use of different kinds of resources such as glue, strings, shoeboxes, glitters and many more. As I look at them, they perform their task together.

The Leprechaun Costume Might End Up In A Leprechaun’s Gold

Their technique to catch the leprechaun is a little bit different this year because what they desired is to disguise themselves by using leprechaun costumes even during bedtime. That is why we got a few bright green clothes like sweats and sweatshirts from our local department store.

They determined that they would require orange hair gel to make their brown hair seem like orange, “as all Leprechaun’s have orange hair”.  So we buy two bottles of orange hair gel, two entire vibrant green sweatshirts and matching socks and on the way out of the holiday area we managed to spot green glittering “bowler” style hats that are used by the Leprechauns, getting two on our exit.

March 17th Going To Bed In Leprechaun Outfits

March 17 is the day they are planning to get hold of that leprechaun. When the day arrived, my kids were now set for sleeping and all the traps were ready inside the playroom. I became concerned as I used the orange hair gel on my kids’ hair given that this will be a challenge if I make the laundry. Because they were wearing the bright green sweat suits, they’re very certain that their strategy to get the leprechaun may finally be successful. After praying, we had a few discussions with regards to the possible events that may take place as soon as the leprechaun is captured and lastly, I switched off the light.

He Got Away Once Again…

March 18, the boys wake up and race outside their room. I hear them coming from the hallway to my room, waking me up to get me stand to investigate the traps together; I laugh since I love these memories.  All of us walk together climbing down the stairs, the boys are the quietest I have ever heard them; they talk silently that they are paying attention to hear the leprechaun.

Finally once we entered the room, the faces of my children were very clear as they have proved that the leprechaun has once more outsmarted them. Yet, we discovered a few small green footprints on the table and on both of its sides. Furthermore, there were gold chocolate coins on the traps as well as on the tabletop. While they were saddened about the outcome, I gave them and guaranteed that the leprechaun may be trapped hopefully next year.
