Blackpool Breaks and Some Important Things To Know
Blackpool is an immensely popular seaside resort situated on the North West coast of England, which is incredibly popular with visitors from the nearby cities which include Warrington, Manchester, Liverpool and more. The town is also deeply popular with Scottish tourists who turn up in large numbers in a similar way to the groups of factory workers of old on their works vacation. At times it would seem as though the seaside town is nothing but guest house accommodation and entertainments and although there is an incredibly amount of bed & breakfasts in Blackpool it is advisable to make early reservations to avoid upset. Guest houses varies from the cheerful and cheap to 5 star. You will find many on the sea front alternatively, if you would prefer book something far less lively there are some further inland.
Tourists first started to visit Blackpool in the eighteenth century who had arrived to enjoy the new fashion of sea bathing. With the arrival of the railways, from 1846, Blackpool saw increasing numbers of tourists to “take the cure” as it was called. Today visitors can travel to Blackpool by automobile, train or plane arriving there much faster than the early Victorians who could travel for up to 48 hrs from Manchester.
The Blackpool Pleasure Beach
The main attraction in the seaside town of Blackpool, in Lancashire in the north west of England, which gets about seven million customers per annum, is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach is a funfair of enormous proportions with terrifying big rides, such as the Pepsi Max Big One, Ice Blast, Grand National, Valhalla, Wild Mouse and Zipper Dipper, and including many more food booths, sideshows, thrill rides, entertainments, children’s rides, sidestalls and games. The most recent thrill ride is Infusion, the world’s first to have a suspended looping type of coaster wholly over water.
A handy tip: If you are visiting as a group of folk you can make considerable savings by buying an unlimited ride wristband especially if you will be going on as many rides as possible as the individual cost of each ride soon amounts to serious cash.
How To Get To Blackpool And Accommodation
As said earlier, Blackpool is very easy to get to these days as you can get to the town by air, automobile or train. Arriving by rail you will, probably, arrive at the main railway station in Blackpool, which is called Blackpool North situated on Talbot Road. Just a short distance further down the road is where you will find the Blackpool National Express Coach Station. The other Blackpool train station, Blackpool South, is at Waterloo Road, South Promenade, closer to the Pleasure Beach. Blackpool’s International Airport is located about two miles from the town centre and was known as, Blackpool Squires Gate Airport, one of the oldest airports in the UK.
Blackpool bed & breakfast accommodation is usually priced reasonably. Rooms are cheaper out of season and a little more costly at the weekend. Hotels in Blackpool are at their most expensive while the Illuminations are on, which is really peak season for the town.
A useful tip: Some B & B’s can be busy and noisy especially those close to North and Central Pier. If you would prefer somewhere less busy try booking a place past the North Pier.
