A Beautiful Gathering Place
On last Saturday night, when I went to the cinema to watched the last sequel of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, I waited until the last second before I left the cinema. Of course I did this in purpose to wait until the credit title (at the very end of the film) appears and mentions where the film was located. If it is happened that you haven’t seen this film yet, maybe I need to tell you that this film (On Stranger Tide), especially at the end part, shows to the audience very beautiful scenery of sea, sands and beaches.
When the credit-title shows-up, I was not surprise to know that the beaches and seas being seen on this film is Oahu, Hawaii. Every people in the world must have known that Hawaii, especially Oahu is very charming location with some outstanding sceneries.
Oahu itself in local language means ‘gathering place’. Visitors are told and the phrase certainly describes the island. Some eighty percent of people of Hawaii live on Oahu, about half of that eighty cluster in Honolulu, the leeward megalopolis that is Hawaii’s state capital and business center, and the only real city in the entire archipelago. Five million tourist from every continents visit Hawaii each year.
We got escape ourselves from Honolulu that morning by a white rented convertible. Amazing, isn’t it? The top was down, the sun on ourshoulders, the wind in what remains of my hair. Our beloved and cute 13 months daughter, every time we saw her, was sitting calmly and nicely on her Britax Boulevard 70CS.
The most unbelievable thing about this city, we thought, departing it, is the hard edge to the boundary between the urban and the natural. The foothills of Honolulu where the residential area is located cover the gentle side of each buttressing ridge, but the homes stop abruptly at the verge, leaving the steep slope pristine. The rest of the island held exactly the same principles: Oahu landscapes are either entirely human or entirely not. Above the line where human habitation ends and mountains begin, there are no giant statues of saints, arms outspread; no ‘Honolulu’ in big tinsel-town letters; no billboards; no road scars; few power poles.
Being a world-class destination for tourists many area of Hawaii also have sufficient number of lodging facilities. Most of them are designed for medium and upper class. At the time we came, we got lucky to occupy one good bed and breakfast locatedly close to the famous Diamond Head Beach.
This place is located on a strategic location, facing an astonishingly superb view. The amenities was also satisfying and what make me more exciting they also equipped our room with a Cuisinart CGG180 which enabled us to held a mini BBQ party.
The size of the room is quite big and also pleasant. After observing the room, we decided to put the baby box next to our bed . We had no problem with this but in a situation like this we could not use the Motorola MBP36, the digital video baby monitor that we specially took from home.
